DAY 1: DEPARTURE FROM MADRID (Saturday 30):
Flight Madrid-Kathamandu. Night on board
DAY 2: ARRIVING KATHMANDU (Sunday 1):
Arriving Kathmandu. Welcome at the airport, transfer to the hotel. At the hotel we will do a briefing and check the weights of the luggage. Rest at the hotel in Kathmandu
DAY 3: FLIGHT TO LUKLA (2850m.) AND TREK TO PHAKDING (2650m.) (Monday 2):
At the hotel we will do a briefing and check the weights of the luggage. (4-5 hrs.) Breakfast is provided in a picnic bag at the hotel. In Manthali we take the flight to Lukla, where, after breakfast, we will start a leisurely walk to Phakding. It is a gentle path almost all downhill, which will help us to warm up and get used to Nepal. Afternoon rest, dinner and overnight in Phakding.
DAY 4: TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR (3440m.) (Thursday 3)
The trek will take us, crossing several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River, to Monjo, the entrance checkpoint to the Sagarmatha National Park. From there, we continue on to Namche Bazaar, the main trading village of the Khumbu region and the Sherpa people. If the weather is clear, on this day we will have the first view of Everest.
DAY 5: ACCLIMATIZATION DAY AT NAMCHE BAZAAR (Wednesday 4)
After climbing 1000 meters, we must spend an extra night acclimatizing. In the morning, after breakfast, we will do some gentle climbing to improve our adaptation to the altitude. In the afternoon we will visit the temple to perform a puja and have the lama bless our expedition. If the day is clear, we will watch the sunset over Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam from the Everest View Hotel.
DAY 6: TREK TO TENGBOCHE (3850m.) (Thursday 5)
We continued our trek through the Dudh Koshi valley, through Sherpa villages, winding through pine and rhododendron forests, until we reached the Tengboche monastery, which Hillary said was “hanging on the mountain”.
DAY 7: TREK TO PHERICHE (Friday 6):
We descend a little down the road with a landscape worthy of the Lord of the Rings until we cross the Imja Khola. Then the road climbs up to Pangboche, with a wonderful view of the Ama Dablam. A couple of hours more will take us to Pheriche. There starts a new change of scenery. We will only see bushes and grass and, above all, lots of yaks!
DAY 8: ACLIMATATION IN PHERICHE (Saturday 7):
Another day to rest to continue our acclimatization. We will go up to visit the nearby village of Dingboche and return to Pheriche to rest. Day to play cards or chess, drink tea and fill in the diary.
DAY 9: TREK TO LOBUCHE (4950 m.) (Sunday 8):
We continue on our way. A flat start leads us to a steep climb that will take us to the Memorial of the Alpinists who lost their lives in these mountains. From there a gentle trail through the lunar landscape of the Khumbu glacier takes us to Lobuche.
DAY 10: TREK TO GORAK SHEP (5160m.) AND BASE CAMP (5350m.) (Monday 9):
Por fin, el día más esperado. Passing the Kala Pattar and Khumbu glaciers we will walk surrounded by the snow-capped giants that lead us to Gorak Shep, the last permanent settlement in the valley. We will take a short rest and lunch and continue our way to Base Camp, where we will have some time to visit it and, above all, hang our prayer flags to give thanks for our success. We will return for dinner and sleep in Gorak Shep.
DAY 11: TREK TO KALA PATTHAR (5545m.) AND RETURN TO PHERICHE (Tuesday 10):
For us, the most beautiful and exciting day of the trek. In the early morning, after a cup of tea, we began the night ascent of the roof of our expedition. We will summit just in time to enjoy the sunrise over the highest mountain in the world and enjoy the views of its little sisters, Pumori, Nuptse, Ama Dablam… A feast for the eyes and a huge thrill. Afterwards, we will descend to have breakfast at Gorak Shep and start our descent, arriving at Pheriche.
DAY 12: TREK TO NAMCHE (Wednesday 11):
We continue our descent to Namche.
DAY 13: TREK TO LUKLA (Thursday 12):
Last day of walking. Taking advantage of the increased oxygen, we will make a quick descent to Lukla, where we will spend our last night in the Solokhumbu.
DAY 14: FLIGHT TO MANTHALI AND TRANSFER TO KATHMANDU (Friday 13):
In the morning we will soon take the flight back to Manthali and transfer in the agency’s vehicle to Kathmandu, to enjoy a well-deserved rest!
DAY 15: VISITING DAY IN KATHMANDU (Saturday 14):
Guided tour (in English) to different temples and historical sites in Kathmandu city. Farewell dinner with show.
DAY 16: RETURN TO MADRID (Sunday 15):
3 hours before the return flight, the agency’s transportation will take us to the airport where our expedition ends.
